Change Your Thinking
Change your thinking to succeed at work
Description
Welcome to Change Your Thinking - a program to help you understand and change your thinking patterns and internal dialogue to better manage stress and build your resilience for work. Whether working for yourself, for someone else or in a large organisation, work can be rewarding - but it can also be really stressful at times. Our thinking patterns contribute enormously to how we deal with the stressors of work. Do you sometimes find yourself panicking and thinking the worst in stressful situations? Are you often wracked with doubt and experience a lack of confidence? Do you respond poorly to critical feedback? This program is for you if you often feel stressed and anxious at work and are looking for some strategies that you can adopt to reduce your level of stress. You might even find that your stress at or about work is impacting your personal life. If that’s the case, now is the time to take action.
Brian and Tracey, your instructors on this course, have years of experience in the workplace and understand the unique pressures that you face. They are also behaviour change experts, with a wealth of knowledge and proven strategies to help you change your thinking for success at work.
At the beginning of this program, we ask you to assess where you are today in terms of your thinking patterns which will give you clarity on the areas of thinking that you most want to work on.
We’ll then have a look at Negative Thinking Patterns and how they shape our experience of stress. Negative thinking patterns cause us to feel threatened and to lose confidence and courage when faced with difficult circumstances. On the other hand, when we change our thinking to more helpful thinking patterns, we can deal successfully with challenging situations. In this program we help you identify the thinking patterns that might be holding you back and encourage you to create a ‘Thought Record’ to help you challenge your negative thoughts and develop new, more helpful thinking patterns. We also help you recognise where your fears come from, the different types of fears and how to face them.
Another key factor in managing our stress and building our resilience is confidence. A lack of confidence and self-esteem results in us avoiding situations or failing to resolve issues – thus leading to more stress and further reduced confidence. When we own our strengths, on the other hand we can face anything, thus building our own resilience.
We’ll give you 10 proven ways to build your confidence and show you how to build a growth mindset, recognise and leverage your strengths and practice gratitude – all of which help to grow the skill of confidence.
At the end of the program, you’ll create your own Personal Change Plan to put into practice the strategies covered in this program and learn to permanently change your thinking to succeed at work.
