Description

Level 2 - Story 7 Cash in the Ash Can

Cash in the Ash Can is about two brothers, Calvin and Todd, who want to become police officers. They’ve grown up talking about how fun it would be to stand in the middle of cars and directly them to where to go. They saw themselves helping many people and performing their duties with red lights blazing to answer emergency calls.

They have an uncle, Burton Davidson, who is a police officer and stops by their home sometimes and he tells them lots of things about what a police officer does.

Level 2 - Story 8 Polly Patches

The Story of Polly Patches is about a young girl who wants to have friends. She’s embarrassed by the many patches she has on her one good dress and all the other girls laugh and make fun of her until… she discovers her dress is very unique and different from all the other dresses.

Because of this, Polly felt her dress was special and soon all the other girls wanted an unusual dress like Polly’s.

A good time was had when all the girls got together and they all made patched dresses - each different from the others, yet each girl’s dress was special in their own way.

Polly made lots of friends by just being herself and helping others feel good about themselves in their own way.
