Description

Joannie Labelle studied percussion with various masters such as Paul Picard, Giovanni Hidalgo and Harouna Dembélé. She studied in Havana, Cuba, with masters Raul Lali Brito Gonzalez (Clave y Guaguanco), Alberto Villareal (Conjunto Folklórico Nacional de Cuba), Roland Salgado Palacio (Afro Cuban All Stars) and Panga.

After touring the world with different artists (Lara Fabian, Les Trois Accords, Afrikana Soul Sister) and developing great abilities for herself, she now wants to help you develop your conga playing, especially for nowadays music.

Since congas come from the Cuban tradition, it often feels difficult to find the right way to play them in non-traditional contexts. Some rhythms do not seem to blend with non-latin styles, or with the drum parts already present in an arrangement. Joannie wants to share with you the technique exercises and rhythms that she had found most useful for herself, in order to stay in good shape on the instrument, and to effectively play the appropriate rhythms on nowadays music.

That's why in this course, Joannie teaches you her favorite, most effective technique exercises and guide you step by step through the process to keep your playing in good shape. She offers you long teaching sequences with which you can practice and develop your skills.

Then, she offers you her most practical conga rhythms to play on nowadays music. Again, she develops the rhythms with you step by step, at different speeds, so that you can slowly get comfortable with them. In addition, you will have the opportunity to learn to insert "ghost notes" into your rhythms.

Finally, you can access training videos to practice with her, and audio playbacks to play alone at different speeds.
