Continental Knitting: An Adventurous Way to Knit FASTER
A different, fun and fast way to knit. Designed for beginners or adventurous American style knitters.
Description
This workshop teaches the continental knitting style, which is considered a faster and more accurate way of knitting by many who have tried it. It is especially easy for people who crochet, since we use the left hand to deliver the yarn. We cover the left hand tension control, the foundation chain cast on, easy short tail pick-up, then we knit Continental style and then purl Continental style. Then we cover knit and purl continental cast off techniques and fun possibilities. Students will explore many tips and tricks to keep the practice fun and are inspired to create their own style and designs. Several beginner projects are included for inspiration.
Continental knitting is practiced and taught all over Europe and has been popular for centuries. It is often combined with basic crochet techniques, since the thread delivery method is the same. Once they try it, many knitters prefer the Continental style and switch to this technique. If you want to learn to knit, this is the way to go! It is easier on your hands than the American throw technique and moves along a lot faster.
