Description

Couples Communication Workshops (CCWs)

Interventions Used for Couples:

Accessing Unacknowledged Feelings

Partners may be tempted to regulate their attachment system by suppressing negative emotions in an attempt to avoid an argument.

An Expansion of Emotions

Couples actively engage with emotions in the here and now by processing and discovering the source of the emotion.

An expression and Naming of the Experience for a Better Understanding by Both Partners

Using "I statements" and validation statements with partners allows couples to confirm a deeper understanding of their partners experience and emotions, thereby helping their partner to regulate, process, and integrate key emotional responses as they happen.

Evocative Reflections and Questions

Evocative reflections are intended to expand each partner’s understanding of the relationship. The CCWs teach couples to stay with the emotional process while encouraging a reorganization and processing of their experience.

Tracking and Reflecting Patterns and Cycles of Interaction

Couples Communication Workshops (CCWs) help couples to identify their contributions to the issue by painting a broader picture of how the interactions trigger attachment systems.

Reframing the Problem

The CCWs teach couples to reframe their interactions in terms of attachment activations rather than perceived assaults.

In this way you build a healthy and stable partnership.
