Description

There are many misunderstandings about Dyslexia.   It's a specific learning difficulty, which often means it can cause problems with certain abilities which we use for learning, such as reading and writing.

Unlike some other learning disabilities, intelligence isn't something which is affected, although this may cause some disadvantage in many areas of life.

This course will help to dispel the myths and learn the facts about Dyslexia, and by attending you will have a greater understanding of the condition, and be able to make some changes to your approaches at home.

By the end of the course, parents and carers will be able to recognise some of the most common features of Dyslexia, and provide help to overcome the challenges which Dyslexia brings to individuals of all ages.  During the course I provide some clear strategies to support children with their homework and any other areas of concern, which are sometimes overlooked or not related to Dyslexia.

Part of the programme is a whole section on homework.  In that session I provide you with really practical ways in which to not only improve the homework experience, but also to give reasonable support your child during what can be a very stressful time.  You can learn what will work, and what to avoid, and by doing so you can be confident that your child is likely to be much more resilient to the struggles they may encounter.
