Electrical Bill of Material Selection for DOL & Star Delta
Learn to select electrical BOM for motor starter circuits & calculate VA burden for control transformers
Description
The course is an effort towards familiarizing and providing hands on practice to the reader with the process of configuring /selecting the Bill of Materials – more specifically switchgear, for motor starter feeders provided in a switchboard.
Course Goals and Objectives:
To understand the stages that lead to the manufacture of electrical switchboards.
To know the various types of input information that a manufacturer receives for working on a project
To prepare feeder list from SLDs by following the detailed process explained for feeder listing
Learn to create bill of material for DOL and star-delta starter feeders using the Type II co-ordination chart of an OEM.
To understand the why and how of the selection process for each and every component used in the BoM
To logically understand the need of accessories to be configured along with the components.
To calculate and proceed for selection of control MCB for each feeder.
To understand the various control supply sources
Introduction to the concept of VA burden, its calculation and role of Control transformers
To calculate and derive the Control transformer rating for a given SLD and set of feeders.
Course Format: The course consists of lectures, a couple of quiz exercises and assignments for creating BoM of 2 feeders. Students will be required to complete the assignments.
Overall, this course will benefit the student to create BoM for feeders at Estimation stage as well as at Engineering stage of switchboard manufacturing.
