Course Title
The title of this course is Introduction to FAR 15 Cost Proposals, Analysis & Negotiation: Understanding the Government’s Contracting Process

FAR is an abbreviation that stands for Federal Acquisition Regulation. The Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) is the primary regulation for use by all executive agencies in their acquisition of supplies and services with appropriated funds. The Department of Defense (DoD), GSA, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) jointly issue the FAR.

Scope
This course walks through the entire process of the federal government (USG): from receipt of the contractor’s (KTR) certified cost or pricing data, to cost analysis of said data, all the way through completion of negotiations.

Perspective
This course is presented from the perspective of a Cost/Price Analyst working at a Buying Command within the Department of Defense (DoD), sometimes informally referred to as a “Contract Shop”, although much of the information is applicable to other federal agencies.

Goal
The goal of this training is to help private companies gain an understanding of the government’s requirements and expectations on cost data, cost analysis, & cost-based negotiations, and how to meet them.
