Description

Do the terms French Knots and Colonial Knots fill you with fear when you hear them or see them mentioned in a hand embroidery project?  Would you like to conquer that fear and become a French and Colonial Knot Master?  Yes?  Then I can help you!

Or you may have never embroidered before and don't know what I'm talking about but love flowers and the little flower in a pot design I have created. No problem - I talk you through what materials and equipment you will need and show you clearly how to create each stitch to build up your final design.

Or you may be an experienced embroiderer who has always used a kit and would like to try to stitch a design of your own.  Or you may be scared of stitching French Knots or Colonial Knots - come and join me as I take you through step by step how to create them and stitch a beautiful design.

Join me as we learn to hand embroider a plant which is found in many English gardens during the summer - the Hydrangea. Learn to stitch 4 different stitches including French Knots, Fly Stitch and Lazy Daisy to create your own little plant in a pot.

Do you also love flowers and gardens? I do! This love of flowers has inspired this project that you can create as a hand embroidered picture that can be framed, made into a card or added to a pin cushion, needlecase or piece of clothing.

A bit about me:

I love textile crafts, I grew up learning to sew, embroider and knit and spent many years when my children were young doing cross stitch kits and patchwork until in 2009 I started the Certificate in Technical Hand Embroidery with the Royal School of Needlework based at Hampton Court Palace.

I eventually went on to graduate with the Diploma in 2021 and am now sharing my skills. I love all forms of embroidery but especially enjoy stitching realistic flowers and birds as well as abstract geometric shapes through Blackwork, Whitework or Canvaswork. I have also been involved in various textile groups where I have both extended my skills and shared them with others through talks and workshops.
