Welcome to JMeter 100: Intro, Install, and Basic Scripting!


The purpose of this course is to introduce you to JMeter and all of its various functionalities that can be used to develop load testing scripts. We will walk through all the elements of a test plan and use those elements to create simple test scripts. This course is intended for beginners or those in need of a refresher. As such, this course is set up in a way that you do not need any prior knowledge and do not need to have previously installed anything. We will walk you through every part of using JMeter from scratch.


We will cover an, how to install JMeter and various plugins, and how to Build a Test Plan. We’ll also cover the elements of a Test Plan including:

  • Thread Groups

  • Samplers

  • Logic Controllers

  • Test Fragments

  • Listeners

  • Timers

  • Assertions

  • Configuration Elements

  • PreProcessors & PostProcessors

  • User Defined Variables

  • JMeter Properties & Variables


By the end of this course you will be confident in your ability to write and execute test scripts for load testing purposes.


Note: This is an introductory course and thus we will not deep dive into any of the much more complex parts of JMeter, but this will give you a good base to build off of before diving into any more complicated topics.
