It's a host-based firewall designed to protect Linux systems.  UFW acts as an easy to use wrapper around netfilter and iptables.  Learn the basics of this capable firewall through a series of lessons and demonstrations that you can easily fit within your lunch time break.  What could be easier??

We'll teach you how to quickly get UFW setup and configured.  Then we'll start working through the fundamentals of writing rules to manage traffic.  You'll learn how to:

  • Allow or Deny traffic based on port and protocol

  • Manage the flow of inbound and outbound traffic to you system

  • Deny access to your system from specific IP addresses

  • Control outbound traffic to specific IP addresses

  • Manage your firewall rule set by adding and removing rules

  • Learn how to reset and restart the firewall and how rules are backed up

  • Handle operational aspects of the firewall

Most lessons also include a hands-on demonstration where you can see the UFW command line interface in action.
