Mindful Singing
Singing without words and with a Shruti Box drone
Description
Hi there
My name is Rose and I'm a music tutor and performer with a mindful approach to my teaching.
Too often life can get overwhelming and we can find ourselves struggling to reconnect and find stillness and so I have created this course in order to share a bit of my practice as I have found it beneficial in my own life.
My hope is that it will inspire you to find and develop your voice because your voice is unique and it is my wish that you to feel more connected to it and not embarrassed by it.
In this course we will largely be working with a drone, in the form of a Shruti box which sounds a lot like an accordion/melodeon/squeeze box. I will pump it to create the drone and together we will have a go at singing with it.
There is no requirement to read music, no words to memorise, we are simply learning from each other, developing our musical ear by listening and imitating.
All in all, together we will:
Look at posture and how this can affect the voice
Learn some quick and easy warm ups that will benefit your body and mind
Develop your ear to copy a single pitch or a phrase - this may largely occur with repetition, and that's okay!
Develop strength and trust with your voice, use it as your instrument to ground you
I hope this course leaves you feeling empowered and mellow
