Welcome! Whether you're a beginner to music, or you already have some experience, this class will cover everything you need to know. The music theory you learn in this class can be applied to any of your favorite songs, or even to your own original music!
No matter what you aspire to do within the field of music, you will benefit greatly from learning these fundamental concepts. You will then be able to apply the skills you've learned to songwriting, producing, performing, arranging, etc.
This class has been structured to ensure that musicians of all experience levels will be on the same page; starting with the most basic concepts in music, and then using those concepts to expand into more complex topics.
By the end of this class, you will be able to:
Identify and properly name all musical notes
Build major and minor scales starting on any note
Identify and properly name the intervals between notes
Form any major, minor, or diminished chord
Determine the diatonic chords within a scale
Create a simple chord progression, or analyze one from a song
Determine the key of a piece of music
There is no prerequisite to take this class. Nor are there any materials or resources you will need! Everything you need will be provided!
