This course will cover the key aspects and characteristics of ODD, what environmental, genetic and psychological factors affect ODD, how it differs from ADHD and Conduct Disorder, and multiple proven classroom and behavior strategies. You will see several video demonstrations of specific strategies and learn how to prevent power struggles. You will learn about the strengths of students with ODD and possible lifetime outcomes. You will engage in specific exercises to practice some of the strategies and you will receive multiple supplemental materials already made for you.
What You Will Learn!
- Identify the key components and characteristics of ODD and how this disorder differs from ADHD and Conduct Disorder. Implement 12 specific classroom strategies including how to put together a work system and 19 proven behavior strategies including how to set limits and how to avoid power struggles. Engage students in specific social skill activities like the use of Quick Social Responses and teach problem solving skills. Choose specific visual supports to enhance, practice or control student behaviors.
