This course presents a history and overview of private security and provides detailed guidelines on risk management, physical security measures, procedural measures to promote security, prevention of losses from accidents and crime, security systems, and security as a management function. An overview of private security describes the methods of protection that have evolved since ancient times. The use of security to prevent or reduce losses, aid and assist during natural disasters, violence, and emergencies has grown.

We are making efforts to expand the available workforce for the security industry through developing career path resources, supporting the advancement of both men and women professionals in the industry, engaging students 18 and older in understanding what security careers have to offer and helping companies learn how to better recruit and retain talent. Private Security engaged in the business of protecting the premises, enterprises, properties or person of any individual person, firm, partnership or corporation on their premises under their immediate direction and control of their employer or watchman; guards and others who have only one employer and who are employed to watch, guard or protect the premises, property or person of that employer or who are employed by one or more interstate common carriers to watch, guard or protect the premises, property or persons of such carrier or carriers.
