This course gives great insight on the use of Quatum GIS for geographic information system. It is prepared particularly for beginners in the field. Hence one does not require prior knowledge or skills in this regard. Whilst compressing a bulky and cumbersome course into a short, precise and articulate lecture to aid quick assimilation and proper understanding.


This course is simple, explicit and very drafted to enable spatial enthusiast not to be left out in the spatial knowledge and skills.  GIS known as system designed to capture, store, analyze, manage, and present spatial or geographic data. GIS allows users to work with different layers of information tied to geographic locations, providing a powerful tool for visualizing and interpreting data in a spatial context.

In this course, students will learn the from the basic to mid level use of GIS with the aid of Qgis. Students will learn how to create new shapefile: points, lines and polygon, how to import already created vector files, transform polygon features to line features and vice versa, learn to explode line features, manipulate and process the attribute table. Lessons covering feature categorizing and labelling is also embedded in this course, likewise shapefile feature display alterations and preparation.
