ANSYS Explicit Dynamics: Droptest simulation of a Barrel
Getting started with ANSYS Explicit Dynamics - Beginner course
Description
In this class I am going to show you a really simple Droptest with an empty barrel. This is a step by step tutorial and is recommended for everyone with desire to simulate falling objects.
As a beginner compatible course, it contains only the necessary elements and steps, to be as straightforward as possible. The goal is to learn the essential structure and workflow of a droptest simulation and not to confuse the newcomers. In future, more advanced courses we are going to expand the limits and possibilities of our simulation and include the following, not yet applied skills like:
- set up parametrized workflow
- include material with failure model
- solve problems, where bodies are breaking/fracturing
- include liquids with Euler/ALE methods
- include explosions and pressure waves
This is the first part of the course-serie, a nice basis to start from.
You do not require any experience with ANSYS, but explicit dynamics is an advanced field. If you have any questions, don't be shy to ask anything.
As project or self-practice you can make a modified version of our droptest with a little twist here and there. Modify the Dimensions, drop height or the material properties as you like to see the influence at the end.
This is going to be a good practice to see, if you have a good understanding of a basic droptest.
