Description

This is an INSPIRATIONAL course to give anyone working as a manager or HR professional a new perspective on how to select new leaders!

This course is NOT a TRADITIONAL "How to do talent management"-course! This course well make you RE-THINK and RE-SHAPE the way you find and select talents!

You could try the 17th new psychological test or the 12th assessment center method to find your talents to become new managers. But we could also learn from those who have been successfully finding, selecting, and promoting their next generation of leaders for 40 million years: lions, elephants, and the like.

This talent management course lets you

  1. rethink your approach to select new leaders and

  2. focus on what is really important for successful future leaders!

  3. You will pay attention to the skills that determine leadership success and use the methods of (for instance) young lions and how they learn from an early age what is expected of a 'Lion King'. (By the way: Prides of lions are led by females...)

THIS COURSE IS MADE FOR

you, if you are

  • Executive who is responsible for the selection and development of new/young executives

  • Manager who trains prospective managers (= talents) and who wants to ensure that they can really lead

  • HR experts in the human resources department who are responsible for talent management, learning & development, and the promotion of young talents

  • Employees without management responsibilities who want to know how they can improve their chances of being discovered as a talent and recommended for a management career

>>> THIS COURSE IS NOT (!) FOR YOU <<<

if you are looking for new tools like Big 5, DISC, etc.

YOUR BENEFITS OF ATTENDING THIS COURSE

  • You see in which areas your talent management is already focusing on the relevant critical leadership criteria and where you might need to adjust it

  • In the future, you will pay even more attention to the vital leadership skills when selecting talents for management positions, instead of being blinded by technical or rhetorical skills

  • You leverage established methods from the animal kingdom (proven to be successful for millions of years) to prepare new managers for their tasks in the most effective way

  • You establish a healthy feedback culture for new (and seasoned) leaders to help them lead even better

  • You prevent people from being promoted who have no leadership potential (yet)

  • You avoid the promotion of people who will flourish much better in an expert role

  • You ensure that successors are developed and that your 'succession bench' is filled with top-class talents - made by your organization

  • When a manager leaves, you no longer have to desperately call head hunters to find a successor because you always have candidates available who can take on management responsibility at short notice

THE IDEA OF THIS COURSE & WHY IT WAS RECORDED DURING A SAFARI

  1. Because for millions of years, packs of animals live in groups with clear leadership responsibilities and succession methods

  2. Leaders of a pack or a herd are tested daily for their ability to lead their group - it's not a one way-street

  3. Leaders of an animal group only remain in their role if they ensure that the pack or herd is safe and well fed

  4. Animals do not accept bad leadership

  5. Group dynamics can be seen in animal groups as much as in groups of humans - while there is (in most cases) no 'political agenda'  negatively influencing the behavior

  6. Bad leadership in animals usually leads to the death of the other animals - therefore, only animals with all leadership capabilities are eligible to lead! There are no dazzlers, gabblers, or people who only got promoted due to their connections

The examples from wildlife and how 'talent management' works in the animal kingdom show us exactly how we can improve our talent management in businesses and organisations.

The manager of the future has to be

  • agile like a cheetah,

  • perseverant like an African Wild Dog

  • and level-headed like an elephant!
