Definition

Counselling is the act of identifying whatever need their may be in the child`s life in the hope and trust that by God`s grace a solution will be reached using the biblical principles.

You as a counselor should be knowledgeable of the word of God and be under the control and guide of the Holy Spirit.

Don`ts

  1. Do not start rushly because of time.

  2. Do not appear as though you never have problems  and you know it all.

  3. Don`t counsel children in closed doors.

  4. Do not show a condemning spirit.

  5. Do not leave the child alone after the first meeting.

  6. Do not counsel a child in a group

Involve specialists if the problem is deep psychologically

Do

  1. Allow the child to relax by introducing your yourself, greeting the child and know the child`s details if you don`t know them properly before you start .

  2. Start asking general questions  like `what do your parents do? WHO is the headteacher of your school? Are you the first or the last born in your family? Do you have brothers or sisters?

  3. Go on to ask the child why they remained behind or would like to see yo

  4. Make the child understand the reality of God`s word in the situation
