The Arowhon Way
Leading with significance
Description
For 90 years, Camp Arowhon has been connecting, empowering, and leading kids. This is a short course about how it's done and how you can have 'the best summer ever' regardless of where your summer is.
Seth Godin, your host, started at Arowhon in 1970. He was the canoeing instructor for many years, and has been learning and teaching at camp for 50 years.
The key ideas in this course include:
Assume good intent
Assume enrollment
Assume lack of context
but beyond that, it's about creating conditions for people to grow, offering respect and dignity, and understanding the idea of apparent risk.
People learn what they do.
When we consider how school, jobs and the industrial complexes of lives have pushed us toward obedience and compliance, it's not difficult to see that we're yearning for something else, something with more impact and meaning.
This summer is the best time to begin this journey of significance.
Seth is the author of 21 bestsellers and has given 5 TED talks. You can find out more about his work at googling him and by reading his 9,000 blog posts by looking for his blog.
This course is optimized for Arowhon staff, but it's open to all.
