Description

This course gives explanation of how mindfulness meditation and techniques are helpful in easing addictions. It covers what addiction is, how we become trapped by it, and how meditation is such a strong medicine against it. I cover basics of breath, concentration, and insight meditation, but encourage students to get deeper training elsewhere - for example my other online materials, or in person. In particular I cover what addiction really is and why it is so difficult to break. Also new information about addiction that many people may not know.

Addictions take many forms we don't necessarily think of. Coffee, food, media, relationships, power, etc. all are addictive. Often we go through life on auto-pilot, and often with much stress. This combination cause us to be susceptible to not only addictions, but also to not knowing who we are, where we are, or where we are going. A truly free and purpose-driven life can happen once we get into a good meditation and mindfulness practice.

When we develop a mindfulness practice we can go through amazing transformations. Often ethics are at the key of what we find as we get to truly know ourselves. While we might think addiction only hurts ourselves for example, we find there is a massive ripple effect. Many of today's problems with corrupt politicians and malfeasance at every level of government is an example of societal dysfunctionality. It is easier to ignore the truth and create matrixes of lies and deception, allowing us to keep on the status quo of theft via governmental structure, generational poverty, and lies on every level.

This is an example of how today most government takes advantage of an uninformed public, but on the individual level our governing brains lie to our souls and bodies in a similar fashion. The habits, ideas, and substances that addict our minds and bodies likewise lie to us, keeping up a sort of matrix of deception much like government over the people. Mindfulness, and meditation are the medicine for these conditions.
