Description
The study was prepared to emphasize the deficiency in the Middle East and International Relations literature. Upon completion of the prepared training, it is aimed to obtain basic knowledge and interpretation level about violent non-state actors. Especially after the Arab Spring, violent non-state actors, whose influence has increased in the Middle East and the world, have become permanent and the process regarding the future of these actors has become controversial in the academic literature. In this context, we have prepared six lessons for you about the concept in question. In our first lesson, we defined violent non-state actors and analyzed the characteristics required to define a political movement as a violent non-state actor. In the second lesson, a process analysis was carried out on the historical background of violent non-state actors. The stages that violent non-state actors, which are political actors, go through in this context were discussed in the third lesson of our training. In our fourth lesson, the classification of the actors in question was shared, and in our fifth lesson, basic information about the typology of these actors was shared. In our last lecture, a summary of the existing literature on violent non-state actors was presented and a framework was drawn for future studies on the concept in question. Care was taken to understand the philosophical dimension of the doctrine by making references to the thinkers of the concept in question. A path was followed to develop the ability to interpret by establishing a bridge between violent non-state actors and current problems. At the end of the lessons, academic readings on the relevant concepts were also shared. It is expected that the contents of the courses will be reinforced with these readings.
