Ratings: 5.00 / 5.00

Description

This class features two popular watercolor topics: watercolor florals and negative painting technique.

Watercolor floral design is very popular these days - you can find a lot of these motives on posters, fabric, homeware... I believe people like them because of their dreamy and fresh look.

In this class we are going to learn how to paint watercolor florals, but not just any florals - we are going to use negative painting technique to do it. This painting technique is very important especially in watercolor. To achieve the dreamy look of our painting, we are going to talk a little bit about the color theory and color wheel - which is good tool to understand how the colors work together.

As a class project, we will create lovely, harmonious floral painting which looks very nice framed and displayed, or works very well also as a greeting card.

This class is suitable for beginner and intermediate level.

As for the materials, in this course we use watercolors, watercolor paper (ideally 100% cotton paper), brushes (various sizes), jar of water, paper napkin, piece of hardboard and masking tape.

The Class Project will help you understand negative painting technique and natural color blending on the paper. We will paint simple watercolor flowers surrounded by lovely pointy leaves. Even if you are a beginner, the shapes of petals and leaves are easy, so don't worry, you can do it!

This kind of painting takes time, feel free to take breaks (actually you need to as you wait till your layers of paint dry :) ).
